Roos Bell Ringers
The Roos bell ringers practice on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 – 9pm at All Saints Church. Beginners are taught at other times by arrangement.
2012 will be a very special year in that our ring of 5 will be refurbished and will be augmented to 6 with the addition of a new treble bell. This has been made possible by a very successful fund raising appeal which has raised nearly £47,000 to pay for the work. The money was raised with a combination of funding from grant awarding bodies, private donations and local fund raising events. There has been a huge amount of support for this appeal from the local community.
We are looking to train new ringers. Contrary to common belief, ringers do not need to attend church or be musical or be unduly physically strong. If you can count up to 6, have a basic sense of rhythm and the commitment to learn a new skill then that is all that is required. In addition to practice nights we ring for Sunday services and by request for other occasions such as weddings. We also ring for pure enjoyment! It is an interesting, social and rewarding hobby.
Complete novices are welcome as are experienced ringers.

Dedication Service for the new and refurbished bells
A lot of work is going on to prepare for the refurbishment of the bells at Roos church and this includes giving thought to the conclusion of the project when there will be a service of dedication and celebration.
Our churchwarden, John McWilliams wrote to the Archbishop of York, giving him the details of all we have achieved and to our great delight, The Most Reverend & Right Honourable Dr. John Sentamu, has accepted our invitation to come to Roos.
Dr Sentamu wrote “It is clear from your letter how much hard work has gone into the fundraising for this bell , and I would be delighted to visit All Saints to help celebrate this achievement and dedicate the bell.”
There will be a service in the church on Sunday September 23rdat 2pm. followed by a traditional tea in the Memorial Institute. More details will be announced nearer the time.
This will truly be an historic occasion both for the church and for the village.
